IT’S ALWAYS A REAL JOY FOR US TO MEET NEW PEOPLE
If you are planning on joining us this Sunday do let us know so we can keep an eye out for you.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Church is more than Sundays – It’s about all of life. That’s why we also get together at other times of the week. We’re seeking to be God’s community as we love and serve one another and reach out into the community around us. We believe our faith goes far beyond Sundays. We’re encouraging each other to live out that faith in the home, the workplace and the community.
We do gather together as a Church on Sundays at 10:30am and 6:00pm and these meetings are at the heart of what we do in the wider week. We’re come from a range of backgrounds, cultures and ages. All are welcome, whether you’re a committed christian, a seeker or just interested in finding out more.
If you’re new to church here are a few things you can expect to happen when we meet on Sundays.
Singing is one of the many ways we worship God and express our love and thankfulness to him.
Prayer is simply talking to God, so it makes sense that we pray quite a bit when we meet as a church.
Children are really welcome at PBC and we encourage them to be involved. Near the beginning of the morning service there is a short children’s talk before the children go out to their special groups – Sunday School and Discoverers (for the older children).
A section of the Bible will be read, usually the part the preacher will be talking about in the Bible Talk. We believe that the Bible is God’s word and that is not only relevant, but essential for life today. That’s why we are committed to clear and faithful preaching from the Bible. We work hard to make sure that God’s word is explained and applied to our lives.
Please don’t hesitate to send us a message or give us a call on (01206) 560310 if you have any questions.
Prettygate Baptist Church is situated in the centre of Prettygate, a large housing estate to the west of Colchester town. The church can be found on Prettygate Road, nearly opposite the library and about 100 metres from the shops on The Commons.
There is off road parking at the front of the building for 10 or so cars and extra parking can be found along the road or behind the library. Several bus routes are available stopping outside the library and outside the Prettygate pub.
Our church has a “come as you are” atmosphere. You will see some dressed up; some dressed casual.
